Our Vision
Our passion at Middletown Christian Church is to Call Disciples to be the Kingdom Now!
Jesus said the Kingdom of God is here among us. Being a Kingdom Now! church means embracing Jesus’ vision for his ministry announced in Luke 4 as our own:
God’s Spirit is on me; he’s chosen me to preach the message of good news to the poor, sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the burdened and battered free, and to announce, “This is God’s year to act!” (The Message)
Our passion is seeing lives transformed by the power of the good news of Jesus Christ. We believe that a personal relationship with Christ changes everything: delivers people from whatever imprisons them, provides people with the opportunity to begin again, and gives life new meaning and purpose.
We believe that Jesus is calling his disciples to make a difference in the world now, instead of focusing all our energy on getting people into heaven in some distant future. Our primary focus is on engaging in the work of God’s Kingdom where we live today.
The key to understanding our vision is the word “Disciples.” We are not just interested in adding new members to our church. We are calling people to grow as Disciples of Jesus Christ. Being a Disciple of Christ means to CONNECT to the love of Christ, GROW in the likeness of Christ, SERVE as the hands of Christ, and GIVE with the heart of Christ. We affectionately refer to one another as “Kingdom people doing Kingdom work.”
