frequently asked questions
enrollment policy
Enrollment shall be open to any child, provided the school can meet the needs of that child. Enrollment shall be granted without discrimination in regard to sex, race, creed, color, or political belief. Age groupings are based on the child’s age as of October 1st of each year. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE GIVEN TO THIS RULE.
potty training
We do not require our two or three year olds to be potty trained. It is required that our four year olds and kindergarteners be potty trained. If you are actively training, please communicate this with your child’s teacher.
medication
We will not administer any form of medication to your child, unless it is required for an emergency situation, such as the use of an EpiPen. Medications for such emergency situations must be provided by the parent in the original prescription package with a signed permission slip that gives us step by step instructions.
school hours
Preschool and Kindergarten classes are 9:00 am to 12:15 pm. Extended day sessions are available for the days that your child is enrolled and end at 3:00.
field trips
Field trips may be taken occasionally. Each child will be required to return a completed permission slip even if the child will not be attending.
Parents must provide transportation for their own child.
discipline
Our goal is to help your child realize what behavior is acceptable and what isn’t. We must show proper behavior through our own actions, for a child will act as they are treated. We feel that proper discipline must be one that either maintains or increases the child’s self-esteem. Our teachers keep your child’s feelings in mind at all times in order to be helpful and not hurtful.
We hope to help your child work through conflict on their own. We will give them the tools they need to resolve conflicts in a peaceful manner. We will help them assess the problem and also help them find ways to resolve the issue. We will also redirect them if necessary. A time out chair will be used only when absolutely necessary and then only as a “cooling off, calming down” time.
The school reserves the right to dismiss a child for reasons of inability to adjust to the school program.
