Baptism
As part of our New Testament reformation heritage, Middletown Christian Church practices believer's baptism by immersion. That is, once individuals are willing of their own accord to make a confession of faith in Jesus as the Christ and accept him as their personal Lord and Savior, they are baptized by full immersion during one of our weekend worship services.
Although we practice believer's baptism we recognize all other forms of baptism. Whether you were baptized as an infant or adult in another church, you do not need to be re-baptized to share fellowship with our community of faith. Through our baptism we join fellow Christians around the world in following Jesus as his disciples, and each is endowed with gifts of the Holy Spirit for service.
Infants and toddlers are typically dedicated and blessed when parents take "Vows of Christian Parenthood" and covenant to raise their children in a Christian home. A nine-week mentoring program called Making Disciples is held each spring for children and youth who would like to explore making a confession of faith and being baptized.
