June 27/28
Personal Preference (Luke 5:27-28)
A personal preference is something that pleases you, that satisfies your personal taste. It's your preferred way of having your needs met. The religion of personal preference is what occurs when we confuse the Gospel with our preferences. Following Jesus means leaving behind your personal preferences. What do you prefer?

The Condemned (Romans 2:1-5)
There is one sin that is destroying the church. It's ugly and it's keeping the church from bring the church and has polluted the body of Christ. We tend to say "sin is sin," none is great than the other. But this sin is more hideous than all other sins combined. Do you know what it is?
July 11/12
The Spiritually Obese (James 1:22-27)
A great many Christians today are spiritually obese because we have been led to believe that being a disciple is a spectator sport. When it comes to our faith we are couch potatoes. Access to the Word is not the problem. We have no trouble feeding upon the Word. It's the lack of application of the Word that threatens our spiritual health. What's the state of your faith?

Vacation Bible School 2009 — July 12-16
Looking for a congregation that doesn't treat church like a top secret mission? You know the ones, "what happens in church stays in church" and the surrounding community never benefits from the "church stuff" that goes on inside those walls. Welcome to Middletown Christian Church, a Disciples of Christ congregation located in the east end of Louisville, Ky.
At Middletown Christian Church, we don't pretend to have all the answers. We cannot pretend to know your heartache, your fears, your hopes, your dreams. But we know Someone who does. Want to be introduced?
We're committed to building a community of faith where God transforms people into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to CONNECT people to Jesus Christ and His church; GROW people into spiritually mature, life-long followers of Jesus Christ; EQUIP people for gift-based ministry; and SEND them into the world as ambassadors for Christ.
We want to cross the boundaries we impose on ourselves and reach the world around us -- not just because it is a good idea, but because it is Jesus' instruction to us:
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19.
